Deutonomy 28:47 ‘Because thou servedest not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things’ Serving God with gladness and joyfulness is to appreciate Him for your life. It entails telling God that you are aware that he has kept you and protected you. That His blessing reaches you even in ways you cannot understand. It is to appreciate God in everything. It goes a long way to show that you have made a good choice by choosing Him above all. To prove to him that he is your all in all. It is to acknowledge his supremacy in your life. It is to proclaim His Lordship in your life. It is a display that you are totally sold out to him. It is a measure of your love for Him. It demonstrates your trust in Him. It is an open demonstration with spiritual commitment that you do not have an alternative God. These spiritual commitments move God to rejoice over you.
When God rejoices over you: He will, without measure, make you a fortified individual who will never serve his enemies. If you do not want to serve your enemies, learn to always rejoice in the Lord. There will be no curse on you. Curses go to those who have made a graven image their god. God will remove want from you and make you dwell in plenty. In addition, God will remove nakedness from you. God will remove thirst from you because he will quench your thirst. Perhaps if you have a yoke of iron on your neck, the Lord will break it and set you free. Prayers: Make it a routine to rejoice in the Lord always. Say: Oh Lord, rejoice in me. Oh Lord, in Jesus’ name ( Repeat the prayer 21 times ) As you pray these prayers, every yoke on your neck shall be broken in Jesus’ name. After 7 days, share your testimony with us.
Success can often seem out of reach, especially in today’s fast-moving world, where values may be relegated to personal gain. Yet, many people have discovered to their chagrin that holding onto Christian principles can brighten a more meaningful path. This post will delve into key Christian teachings that can help guide you toward authentic success.
Principle Of Faith
Central to every successful journey is faith. This is a belief in God. God is the author of faith. Unfortunately, people are too careful in their quest to balance their message and tend to downplay the unchangeable truth about faith by recognising human efforts in the process. Faith is in God. It started with God.
Let us briefly look at faith. In Genesis 1:2, God appeared and was confronted with the empty world. And God began to fill it up. ‘And God said, Let there be light, and there was light ‘ This is faith in action, Genesis 1:5.” And God said, Let there be a firmament amid the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters’ And it was so. The bible tells us in Romans 4:15 that the faith of God calls those things that be not as if they were. When David squared up with Goliath in a battle, he went in the name of the Lord of hosts. What chances were there for David to kill a giant with a sling and a stone? And here, a boy not tested in real warfare, confidently confronted a giant and defeated him. The confidence was founded in God, not in his strength. 1Samuel16:45- ‘ Then said David to the Philistine, thou comest to me with a sword and a spear and with a shield: but I come to you in the name of the Lord of the armies of Israel whom thou hast dehiled’
The Scriptures say that’ by strength shall no man prevail’. David boldly declared where his faith was anchored, not on the catapult he was armed with. He had his reliance on the name of God. This is faith in action. Faith is not necessarily a strong belief in your capabilities and purpose. When you embrace faith, you build resilience, allowing you to face challenges.
For example, a small business owner who believes in their mission often displays enthusiasm that attracts customers. A positive outlook born out of his trust and belief in God brings higher sales, reflecting the power that confidence and faith in God can have on overall success. The confidence and enthusiasm that the owner of Colgate toothpaste had towards his brand made him pay over ten per cent of his tithe as required, thereby seeing his product become an internationally accepted product. Let your confidence rest in the Lord. Recently, the Prime Minister of Israel wanted to go to war with Iran, despite the technological know-how in their possession. The rising lion phrase was taken from the bible, building their faith in God. Their result was a resounding victory without losing a single soldier in the combat.
The Principle of Integrity
Integrity is a core Christian principle. It means being honest and accountable in all aspects of life. Acting with integrity builds trust—both from God and others. When you prioritise honesty, you enhance your reputation and create opportunities for collaboration. A transparent leader enjoys a culture of respect and loyalty. When you lead with integrity, you foster a productive environment and inspire others to follow your example. For Instance, the first significant command to repair the Temple is attributed to King Joash, as recorded in 2 Kings 12 and 2 Chronicles 24. Joash, who became king at a young age, was influenced by the priest Jehoiada to initiate repairs. According to 2 Kings 12:4-5, “Then Joash said to the priests, ‘Collect all the money brought as sacred offerings to the house of the LORD—the census money, the money from vows, and all the money that is voluntarily given for the house of the LORD. Let every priest receive it from his constituency, and let it be used to repair any damage found in the temple.” This command underscores the collaborative effort between the monarchy and the priesthood in restoring the Temple, following the integrity of the King, which in turn spurred the priests.
The Principle of Helping Others
Helping others is an important Christian principle. Jesus taught that serving others is a form of love and a way to fulfil your purpose. Jesus Chris had a successful ministry because his work was focused on helping people. The scriptures in Acts 10:38 recorded ‘ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, Healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him’. Works of kindness and generosity enrich our lives and lead to unique forms of success. Volunteering regularly can increase one’s sense of well-being. When you focus on helping others, you create a goodwill network that enhances your life. This interconnectedness reinforces the idea that true success is linked to the well-being of those around us.
Principle of Diligence and Hard Work
The Bible emphasises hard work. Proverbs 14:23 states, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” Combining diligence with faith leads to incredible outcomes. When you put effort into your goals, you align with divine principles that often result in exponential growth. According to Deutonomy 32:30, ‘How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?
Proverbs 22:29 ‘Seest a man deligent in his business? he shall not stand before mean men’. If one dedicates a portion of their time to learning new skills, they can see career advancement. While the rewards may take time, a strong work ethic underscores a genuine sense of fulfilment and purpose.
Principle of Humility
Success can sometimes lead to a sense of superiority. Recognising that your talents come from God fosters gratitude and keeps pride in check. David remained humble despite being anointed King to take over from Saul. Joseph dreamt dreams of his future elevation, yet he remained humble. When he encountered his brothers after he became prime minister in Egypt, he remained accessible to the extent that he ate with them. The scriptures warn in Proverbs 16:18, ‘Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall’ Humility allows the seeking of guidance from mentors and peers. For instance, business leaders who remain approachable and open to feedback tend to maintain healthier team dynamics and greater success rates. This mindset also allows you to learn from your experiences, making you relatable and grounded. Jesus was so humble that he washed the feet of his disciples.
Principle of Prayer
Prayer in your daily routine transforms your quest for success. Prayer is a direct line to God, communicating with God, making requests to God, bringing your petition to God, surrendering your activities to God, accepting your limitations before God, relinquishing your power and allowing His power and will to take preeminence. It is to align your intentions with His purpose. Prayer is a game-changer in any situation. No victory that you cannot have if you go down on your knees and seek God’s intervention. Jabez in 1Chronicles 4:10.used prayer to change his pathetic situation to a more honourable state than that of his siblings. When he called upon God in prayer.
Setting time aside for personal reflection helps evaluate your decisions against your values. A report from the American Psychological Association shows that mindfulness practices, like prayer, can improve emotional well-being by 25%. This clarity can strengthen your focus and boost your motivation. Prayer provides the strength needed to navigate through challenges. Life is full of unexpected changes, but addressing them with prayer leads to new opportunities for success. During times of change, focusing on your relationship with God and seeking wisdom through prayer can be incredibly powerful. This resilience opens doors to opportunities previously unimagined.
Principle of Building a Community
Community plays a noble role in the Christian experience and is essential for achieving success. Surrounding yourself with people who share your values creates an environment conducive to growth. Being part of a community offers opportunities for encouragement and mentorship. These relationships provide the accountability needed to stay true to your principles while supporting each other through challenges.
Finally, the journey toward success is often shaped by principles that reflect our values and beliefs. Leaning on Christian teachings like faith, integrity, service, hard work, humility, community building and prayer, we will live a life rich in purpose and meaning.
Success is about more than just material wealth. It encompasses the lives we touch, the legacies we build, and the love we share with others. By committing to these timeless principles to heart, you will fulfil your destiny.
Prayer
Oh Lord show me your glory in Jesus name. (Repeat 7 times)
Oh Lord enlarge my coast in Jesus name.Repeat 7 times)
Oh lord behold their threatening and deliver me in Jesus name. repeat 7 times)
Oh Lord multiply your grace upon my life in the name of Jesus.Repeat 7 times)
Oh Lord I will not leave your presence until you bless me in the name of Jesus christ.(repeat 7 times)
Success is generally measured by achievement, wealth, and status. This is a worldly assessment.
Achievement is one’s accomplishments, while wealth is based on possessions—an abundant availability of material things of quality and quantity. On the other hand, status is one’s standing or recognition in society. However, Wealth, achievement, and status are external factors. For Christians, success transcends these external factors. Christian success is found in faith, served by purpose, and a relationship with God. In this post, I will examine the Christian view of success and the potential inherent in each believer.
Central to a Christian’s understanding of success is faith. Christians are called to trust in God, who has a good plan for every life. This timeless truth is captured in 3 John 2: ‘ Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospereth’. This is the plan of God towards Christians, because they put their trust in God to prosper and to be in health.
Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
When believers believe and rely on God, they become open to His guidance. Faith in this perspective actively drives individuals toward their God-given potential. Recognising that God is in control brings peace and confidence, equipping Christians to meander through challenges with resilience.
In today’s world, success is commonly defined by material wealth or social standing. However, Christians are encouraged to see success as fulfilling their God-given purpose and using their gifts to serve others. Galatians 5:13 reminds us to “serve one another in love,” which is a core aspect of true success.
For instance, a successful individual might find joy in mentoring youth in their community, knowing they are making a lasting impact. Tying personal goals with God’s will, even though it leads to fulfilment, can also enhance overall well-being. Research shows that individuals who engage in acts of kindness and service enjoy higher happiness levels, making community service a pathway to genuine success.
A believer possesses unique gifts and talents, given by God for a special purpose. 1 Peter 4:10 admonishes believers to use their gifts to serve others. In this manner, recognising and actively utilising these gifts is critical for attaining success.
David was a talented musician. When the spirit of God departed from Saul, and the evil spirit took over him and tormented him, the palace staff needed a gifted musician whose music would drive away the evil spirit and restore his sanity . In 1 Samuel 16: 18′ then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him’ The product of their search was David, who had a special gift in that regard and who freely offered his services to Saul. When Christians use their God-given talents, they contribute positively to their communities and experience success that resonates with their faith.
In the words of Job 15:15, Job 14:1-15, ‘Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. And dost thou open thine eyes upon such’
Challenges are part of everyone’s journey, but from a Christian point of view, they nurture growth opportunities. Romans 5:3-4 highlights in its teaching that out of hard conditions comes perseverance; perseverance gives birth to character, and character brings hope.
Obstacles and battles are no respecters of persons. When it appears in the life of a Christian, they can view them as a chance to nurture resilience and deepen their faith. For instance, someone who loses a job may use that experience to find a new calling that aligns with their passions and strengths. This change could lead them to a career in nonprofit work, ultimately providing them with a sense of fulfilment that their previous job lacked.
The journey toward success is not meant to be taken alone. Christians are encouraged to seek community and accountability within the church and among fellow believers. Hebrews 10:24-25 emphasises the importance of encouraging one another in faith.
A support system in place brings about growth, ushering encouragement, wisdom, and accountability. For example, a small group can provide a safe space for sharing ideas, while group members hold each other accountable to stay on track. This collective journey cements a stronger commitment to personal and spiritual growth.
In pursuit of success, balancing ambition with humility is important. James 4:10 encourages us to “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you.” While it is of the essence to strive for goals, Christians must remain humble. This balance ensures that success does not attract pride but rather gratitude and service. By accepting that all achievements come from God, individuals cultivate a heart of thankfulness and consider how their success can further God’s kingdom through acts of service.
In conclusion, Success from a Christian perspective is defined not merely by what one achieves but by faithfulness to one’s calling, commitment to serving others, and reliance on God’s guidance. Through the embodiment of faith, redefining success, engaging in prayer, and surrounding themselves with supportive communities, Christians can unlock their hidden potential.
As believers journey through life, it’s essential to remember that God wants them to succeed in His light. The true measure of success lies not in societal praise and acknowledgement or accolades. but in honouring God and serving others. With this understanding, Christians are empowered. And it is to pursue and achieve lasting success with purpose and joy.
